Alabama Utility Bills and Energy Assistanceย  Residents of Alabama may qualify for help with utility bill programs in the state. ย  However, grants are made available to low-income residents. Suppose your gross yearly household income is at or below the U.S. Poverty Level Guidelines. ย Find out if you are eligible for help.

Suppose you may be eligible for assistance if you or someone in your family receives benefits such as Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Women, Infants and Children, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). ย Help is also available for Veterans.

Low-Income High Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

The Low-Income High Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps low-income Alabama residents with home energy bills. ย Funding for this program is provided block grants from the government. Block grants are issuedย to states through block grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. ย Contact LIHEAP by callingย 334-242-4909.

Cherokee Electric Cooperative

The program Operation Warm is an Alabama energy assistance that provides financial grants to eligible families. ย It helps struggling families with electric bills. ย  Many assistance programs are government-funded and are given to organizations to distribute to the needy. ย If you need help paying utilities, please contact the Cherokee County Crisis Center at ย 256-927-5524.

Alabama Business Charitable Trust Fund

The Alabama Business Charitable Trust Fund Inc. has helped low-income residents of Alabama for 20 years. They work with 12 organizations and community programs to help families pay energy bills, weatherize their homes to become more energy-efficient.ย ย ABC works with the community to teach them how to save on bills and energy. Weatherization Assistance

The Alabama Weatherization Program is extended to Alabama, U.S. states, and territories. ย It helps low-income families make important repairs and upgrades to their homes.ย ย Repairs include water heater repairs replacement, fixing stairs, insulating windows, doors, and roofs. These energy-saving repairs will ultimately save money for the homeowner.

To receive Weatherization assistance, the applicant’s gross family income must be at or below 150 percent of the U.S. Poverty Guidelines. Funding for the program is available through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA).ย  The Community Action groups distribute money. ย To learn more about Alabama The Alabama Weatherization Program, please call 334-242-5373.

JCCEO Energy Assistance Services

This program provides heating and cooling assistance to low-income households. This covers help with heating or cooling bills. If you or one family member has verifiable medical illnesses, you can enroll for help.ย ย If you have a current utility bill and proof of income, you can receive consideration for help. Alabama energy assistance programs like Efficiency Forward Grants offer grants to low-income families in Alabama. The charity fund was created in 1992 and works with non-profits in health and human services.ย ย The goal is the savings on energy bills. These grants pay a portion of your energy bill and also help lower your energy bills.
