Operation Christmas Child
This program is associated with Samaritan’s Purse in Boone, NC.ย Their famous outreach to children gives a Christmas Shoe Box to kids worldwide, and the U.S.ย Shoe boxes are decorated and filled with toys, clothes, and school supplies for children.ย If you want to support this outreach or see one in your community, contact Samaritan’s Purse.
Free Christmas Trees
This faith-based charity helps with housing, utility payments, travel vouchers, gas cards, clothing, food, and basic mandatory needs. They have programs that help ex-offenders, the disabled,ย ย beds, cribs, baby supplies, etc.ย They also provide Christmas, and Thanksgiving assistance, toys, food, and clothes (contact a chapter).

Operation Homefront
Operation Homefront is an outreach to military families at Christmas and every day. They join Dollar Tree to provide toys for children whose parents are in the military. Suppose you would like to receive a give for your child to register with a local Operation Homefront Tory Distribution in your state. You can also receive a home-cooked holiday turkey dinner. Loaves and Fishes
Loaves & Fishes provides free groceries to families and individuals experiencing financial challenges.ย ย If you need help with groceries, contact Catholic Charities of the Department of Social Services to get a referral to Loaves and Fishes.ย They also give turkey and fixings to families with children. They are located in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area.

Do I Qualify for Help with Christmas Assistance?

How Do I Apply for a ย Free Toy
It is essential to apply for help in October.ย However, December is a little too late, and you may not be able to get assistance. Each program has limited funding, and thousands of families need help.ย Start contacting charities early to make sure your child gets a toy.
You can Apply for a Gift if you are a Legal Guardian of the Child. ย There is a cut-off age for receiving help, and groups are more likely to gift children under 12. ย There may be some acceptions, so check with the organization you sign up with when applying to bring documents supporting your financial situation. ย You will need to bring the following:
- Photo ID
- Proof of Income – payroll stubs, W-2 forms
- Social Security cards for each person applying for help

Hello, Sheila. If you do not have legal custody of your grandchild I suggest you see about doing this. With legal custody, you may be entitled to money, Medicaid, and SNAP benefits from the Department of Social Services, depending on their ages. Please check out this post here.
