Jacksonville St Vincent de Paul Assistance programs.  If you live in Duval County in Florida, you can get help from the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. This non-profit, faith-based charity provides assistance to struggling families and individuals throughout Jacksonville, Florida.

As with all assistance, agencies help is available to those who qualify financially and if funding is available. This charity networks with government and community agencies and, if they can not help you, they will refer you to other organizations that can.

To determine what type of help your family needs, home visits may take place.  These visits will be done by staff and coordinated by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s Duval County office.  Often families are in such distress they overlook other needs in the home that may be addressed.

When other needs are revealed, they will direct the individuals or family to the proper resources to help bring the family back to stability.  Financial assistance and other resources such as food, clothing, counseling will be included when you qualify.

  • Help with housing or utility payments is available.
  • Travel vouchers or help with gasoline to get back and forth to work or to receive necessary medical care.
  • Vouchers to their thrift store to get clothing, basic furniture need, or food may be available.
  • Holiday assistance for Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas dinner.

Please note that all Parishes do not offer these services, so contact the Jacksonville St Vincent de Paul Parish near you to find out what is available. When you apply, be prepared for a home visit.   If there is no Parish in your area, or if the help you need is not available, they will direct you to other assistance programs in your area.

Help for Ex-Offenders –  Everyone deserves a second chance, especially those in prison who have paid their debt to society. Suppose your family qualifies financially and meets the requirement for help.   The program Project New Hope helps ex-offenders and their families with help like housing, employment assistance, education, food, furniture, clothing.

Many other services are available in Jacksonville, Florida.   Like many assistance programs, you can not just walk in to get help but must be referred by another organization or government agencies.   When receiving help for bills like rent or utilities, all money is given directly to the landlord or utility company.  No cash is given directly.

Thrift Store –  Often, disasters can cause families to lose everything.  St. Vincent Parish, like many other church charities, offers these families help to re-establish their homes.   You can get free furniture, clothing, and household appliances are provided when available.

These items are received from donations, cleaned or repaired, and made available at their thrift stores. Society offers free pickup of large items such as furniture.   They will also deliver furniture free of charge to those in need. Other donated items available:  beds, crib, baby supplies, and etc.
