How to Get Help for the Holidays in Alabama

Low-income families struggle just to keep a roof over their heads, food on the table, and clothing for their children.  Many cannot afford to celebrate the holidays with big dinners or gifts.  Let’s face it; Christmas is for kids, and it is heartbreaking to look into the face of a child and tell them they will not have Christmas this year.  There are many community organizations that provide help with bills like rent, utilities, food, clothes, and even furniture.  So the following information below can help you get the help your need during the holidays.

CHP White Christmas

CHP White Christmas is a yearly Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday outreach helping Lumpkin County disadvantaged families in need. This incentive gives Christmas toys and gifts to children you qualify financially. Clothes, toys, and clothing vouchers are given to the entire household. Each year they are invited to sit down for Christmas dinner. If you need help or desire to donate or participate in helping contact. Please mail checks payable to CHP White Christmas

Birmingham Holiday Programs

Several organizations in Birmingham provide Christmas and holiday programs. The charities will focus their resources on children from low-income families as well as senior citizens. Using donations from the greater Jefferson County Alabama community, the agencies may have hot meals, toys, and other items such as clothing.

While there are several churches and organizations to try for help, most of the Christmas assistance is provided by the Salvation Army and YMCA. These agencies offer programs such as Toys for Tots, Angel Tree, and others. They operate by collecting toys and items from the community and then provide these for free to children and teenagers, among others.

The goal is to always help residents experience the holidays. So they try to do their best, whether that offers a free meal or food basket or provide presents to children. Please donate or volunteer to the charities if possible.
