Christmas Help.  How to get Christmas Help in Atlanta.  If you are looking for holiday or Christmas help, below is a list of churches, community organizations, and non-profit organizations that can help.  You may be able to get toys for the kids and seniors as well as help with household bills.  Keep in mind that this year there is a greater need more than ever.  Assistance is given out on a first-come, first-served basis.  We encourage you to start contacting these agencies immediately to assure you can get help this holiday. season.

Angel Tree Program

The Angel Tree program is brought to the community each year to help low-income families with toys, coats, and other items for Christmas.  Contact the Salvation Army to submit the name of your child and whether they are a boy or a girl.  They help children up to the age of 12 years and the elderly from 62 and up.  They have warehouses filled with bikes, dolls, clothing, and all the item that make your holiday special.  Please have proof of income and identification for each person requesting help. 

Buckhead Christian Ministry

Buckhead Christian Ministry offers a variety of different services, including rent, mortgage, and utility assistance, supportive housing, and financial education. They also have several holidays and seasonal programs that provide families, children, and individuals with things like Christmas toys and food, school supplies, Thanksgiving dinners, and financial help to help low-income families and single moms make it through the holidays.

Clark’s Christmas Kids Toy Drive

Clark’s Christmas Kids Toy Drive is an annual event where local celebrity Clark Howard partners with The Georgia Department of Family and Children’s Services to collect toys for foster children. This organization is special in that it sets up local collection stations in the opportune locations of area Wal-Mart stores. In this way, the group hopes to advertise to those doing their own holiday shopping. Traditionally, the toys collected in this way make up half of all toys delivered to foster children throughout the state. For those too geographically distant to deliver toys, online cash donations are also possible.

H.O.P.E. Through Divine Intervention Inc.

H.O.P.E Through Divine Intervention Inc. is an organization primarily concerned with providing affordable housing to individuals and families that are dealing with housing instability. However, during the holidays, they run a special program called Hope for the Holidays. This program works to provide homeless and low-income children throughout the metro Atlanta area with assistance throughout the holidays.

Lift Up Atlanta, Inc.

Lift Up Atlanta, Inc. is a non-profit organization that works to provide homeless and low-income families throughout the metro Atlanta region.  You can receive help with things like food, clothing, and a variety of other services. They have a variety of programs year-round.  This includesd their community clothing closet and a school supply drive, but there are also some programs that they run especially during the holiday. For instance, they have a holiday food basket program where they provide hundreds of families with food for the holidays and a Christmas toy giveaway.

Precious Jewels Learning, Inc.

Precious Jewels Learning, Inc. does not have quite as many programs as some of the other organizations on this list, but every year around Christmas time, they hold a celebration that is open to the community. At this event, there is poetry, music, storytime, caroling, and free dinner. They also usually offer toys for the families that come to take them home.

Resource Center For Community Action, Inc.

The Resource Center For Community Action, Inc. is a group based in Conyers, Georgia.  They serve individuals and families in the area. They have a variety of different programs, including their emergency assistance.  This assistance would include, their mobile food pantry, and a variety of other special events, including their Christmas celebration. The Christmas Celebration is open to anyone in the community with free admissions and offers lots of fun, food, gifts, and more.

Toys For Tots

Toys For Tots is a program that you can find almost anywhere in the United States. It is run by the U.S Marine Corps Reserve.  They collect toys during the months of October, November, and December and then distribute the toys to children in need around Christmas time. The goal of this program is to make sure that every child has a special toy for Christmas. All you have to do is apply online.

Women Are Dreamers Too, Inc.

Women Are Dreamers Too Inc. or WADT is an organization that works to help women that are survivors of domestic abuse find and maintain stable employment. They also offer a variety of other services, including counseling, shelter, and help with children. During the holidays, they run a special program that distributes things like toys, food, and gift baskets to the women and children in the communities that they serve.

Center of Hope Church, Inc.

The Center of Hope Church, Inc. is a non-profit organization and church in Jonesboro, Georgia. At Christmas time, they usually run a program to give toys away to children in need, age 15 years and younger. Disciples on the Walk Inc. is a non-profit, religious organization that has a variety of outreach programs.  They provide families with home goods (things like foods, free furniture, etc.), help with housing, and a homeless outreach program. Salvation Army Command Center

The Salvation Army offers a variety of services year-round.  This includes several housing and shelter services, emergency assistance programs, disaster relief, youth programs, and women programs. During Christmas, they also offer several special holiday programs.  These programs include the Angel Tree program, where community members pick up a tag to provide a kid with things that he or she needs or wants. They also serve Thanksgiving meals and provide Christmas food baskets. They have locations in Clayton County, Cobb Country, Dekalb Country, Fulton County, and Gwinnett County.

Simple Teachings Bible Church

Many local churches provide help for Christmas and other times of the year.  Simple Teachings Bible Church usually has several programs (based on donations) that could be helpful to you through the holidays. They are usually able to assist families in Clayton County with Christmas toys and gifts for their children. Additionally, when they have enough money, they offer families Christmas baskets and special meals.

United Methodist Children’s Home

The United Methodist Children’s Home has a variety of different sites.  These sites provide a variety of services for families and children in need, including residential care, child care, independent living support.  This includes transitional living, high education support, comprehensive child and family assessment, home evaluations, and educational resources. During the Christmas season, they have additional programs to provide free toys and presents to infants, children, and teenagers that are in need.
