Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma

The church’s core belief is spreading the gospel through word and deed, which is why they run a comprehensive financial & emergency assistance program that helps people settle their debts and bills.

Lifeline Phone Assistance –   The Baptist General Convention Church registers low-income families to receive a discount or free phone service.  Additionally, those needing landline service can receive up to a 50% discount on installation and phone services. Consumers can save up to $7.85 as a discount on local calls.

LIHEAP Utility Assistance – The church works closely with the Department of Human Services (DHS) at the county level to reduce HVAC power bills.

This program provides affordable home heating & cooling bills during harsh weather conditions.  Oklahoma residents can apply for LIHEAP assistance during or shortly before winter.

You may qualify for the Lifeline Assistance program if you receive the SNAP, SSI, Medicaid, States Sales Tax Relief, Vocational Rehab, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and are residents of a current or former tribal land in Oklahoma. (more)

Catholic Charities offers programs to support struggling families and individuals in the US and abroad. They offer life-affirming, supportive services that help residents struggling to care for themselves and their families.

Oklahoma Help with Christmas

Bethel Foundation

The goal of this ministry is to help single mothers. They provide decent housing, rehab, and mentoring services.  Bethel believes in giving people a second chance in life.   This foundation helps single mothers get back on their feet after being defeated by life circumstances.

Bethel Community Center is a one-stop store where single mothers can get free food and clothing supplies.  Single mothers receive assistance regardless of age, social background, or race.  

Usually, families will get emergency assistance for nonperishable foods and moderately used clothing.  The Bethel Center receives most of its clothing from corporate retail contributions and donations from the community.

How to Apply

Each applicant should be prepared to provide a Government ID, Guardianship and/or Birth Certificates, and proof of all sources of how bills are paid, like Pay-stub, Section 8, Social Security, Food Stamps, Child Support, TANF, Unemployment, etc.  You must apply by October 27th.

Bethel Foundation

Bethel Foundation helps single mothers facing housing challenges with the first month’s rent and mortgage assistance. They can avoid eviction and homelessness.

Applicants for this church assistance program must be pre-screened by phone before scheduling an appointment with the project’s supervisors. If your registration is approved, you will receive temporary emergency assistance.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area offers many services for citizens throughout the county.  This outreach provides help to needy families and individuals. They also provide food, clothing counseling, and holiday assistance programs, church services, and bible study.

Salvation Army’s Programs

Church Ministry –   The Salvation Army Central Oklahoma holds Sunday morning and evening church services and Tuesday evening prayer.

Emergency Shelter – Offers shelter to men, women, and families.

Red Shield Diner – Prepares breakfast for shelter guests and delivers lunch for our five senior centers.  They also prepare dinners for shelter residents and the community. Anyone hungry may come and eat dinner here.

Social Services – Social services help with utility, clothing, burial, Christmas, and food assistance.  They also give out fans in the Summer and coats in the Winter.    Their Food Pantry allows clients to shop free of charge.  Families can come once a month for food.

Boys & Girls Club –  At our Boys & Girls Club, help instill in children values that encourage them to be valuable members of society.   They can participate in vocational classes, Bible studies, sports, field trips, and homework.

Senior Programs – Open Monday – Friday for seniors ages 55 and older. Seniors socialize, enjoy lunch, and engage in activities like exercise, arts, and crafts, dancing, Bible study, etc.

Disaster Services –  Mobile feeding canteens are present at disasters to provide basic needs like water, drinks, and food to victims and first responders. Furthermore, disaster services provide shelter, clean-up, reconstruction, and emotional and spiritual care.

Restore Hope Ministries

This non-profit is to help underserved families remain stable during difficult times.  They focus on preventing hunger and homelessness and addressing emotions and spiritual needs.  Thousand of people in crisis are helped every year.

Restore Hope Ministries offers free counseling, chaplain assistants, and prayer service.  They also support the emotional and mental well-being of those in need.

Restore Hope’s Assistance Programs

Homelessness Assistance – The organization provides rent assistance to individuals and families facing a recent or sudden loss of income.  Restore Hope has been very successful at preventing homeless among families.

Feeding Program – Restore Hope provides groceries through their pantry.  They give items like peanut butter, canned meats, breakfast cereals, and canned fruit.  Food is donated by other charities, companies, and the community.  Assistance ranges from food, shelter, utility bill payments, skills training, and psychological support.    (more)
