Salvation Army Christmas Assistance – Help with Food, Bills, & Toys

alt="salvation army christmas assistance"

The Salvation Army Christmas Assistance Program.  It is now approaching Christmas of 2023.  Are you looking for free Christmas help like toys or help with bills during the holiday season?   Contact the Salvation Army Angel Tree.   This outreach provides help to needy families.   If participating, look for a Salvation Army drop-off location to leave toys for children.

First of all, the generosity of these organizations makes a difference in the lives of millions of families.  Secondly, as a parent or guardian, you are excited to see your child experience the joys of Christmas.  Too many families, even working families, cannot afford the extra experience of purchasing gifts and toys for the holiday.

Therefore, we are happy to spotlight this organization because, without this help, children all across America will wake up on Christmas morning to find they have received no toys or gifts.  When parents lose a job and need help paying rent or utilities, toys go to the bottom of the list.

State and local charities and independent programs make Christmas possible for impoverished people.  No child should be forgotten during this time of the year.  NOTICE: Please contact these Agencies Immediately as many people seek help, and toys and gifts are limited.

About Angel Tree

You can help a child or family by donating to the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program.  They provide Christmas assistance toys for children and gifts for teens, seniors, and families in need.   Most importantly, this program is run by generous donations from groups, organizations, and caring people like you! Your donations help these precious children each year!

Salvation Army Drop-Off Location

If your organization would like to host an Angel, go online to the corporate site, fill out a registration form, and return it before October 17.  Dates will vary in some states. To find a Salvation Army drop-off location near you, call your nearest location to find out the days and times they are open to receive gifts and toys.  You can also use the 411 angel number to determine what items they are short of, like boys’ coats, girls’ bicycles, etc.

Where to Find an Angel Tree

Specify how many people your organization would like to help and attend training. You will receive a kit, including Angel’s tags, for your Christmas tree. Decorate your tree appropriately for Christmas with lots of Angels, and advertise the event with e-mails, posters, and lunchroom bulletin boards.  You can choose to adopt an Angel to help this Christmas. They can also use your help as a volunteer to work at the Secret Santa Warehouse.

How to Apply for Christmas Toys

Of course, each Christmas assistance program has a different requirement to receive help, and therefore the basic requirement is your income. If you receive help from one of the many government assistance programs, such as Food Stamps, WIC, Medicaid, etc., you probably qualify to get help.  Also, when you apply for gifts and toys. you need to present,

  • Current photo identification of parent or guardian
  • Proof of current address
  • A copy of your lease or
  • A utility bill for August, September
  • Current photo identification of parent or guardian
  • Proof of Income or
  • Tax returns or proof of enrollment for SNAP benefits
  • Birth Certificate cards for each child to verify the age
  • Or Proof of your child’s enrollment in school or a free or discounted lunch program
  • Or social security cards for child, parent, or guardian
  • Clothing and shoe sizes for the children
  • Finally, your child can receive three gifts costing $50 or less, but this does not guarantee the quality of the gifts your child will receive.

Question:  Can I sign up for more than one Christmas assistance program?  You may, however, be asked if you have registered with other charities for help.  Most importantly, it is not advised that you try to sign up with several agencies for toys.  This could certainly ban you from receiving help in the future.  Furthermore, they want to ensure every child or family needing help gets at least one gift.

Necessary Documentation to Receive Help

Additionally,

  • Proof of address (phone or utility bills, etc.)
  • Social Security card for each person requesting help
  • Proof of income of documentation from the government assistance agency

How to Help a Charity

Finally, if you are looking for a charity to help this Christmas, you can sign up with one of your city’s Salvation Army registration locations.  To be eligible to receive help, you must meet the federal qualifications and minimum poverty guidelines.  If you have registered to become an Angel, please provide your name, age, gender, clothing, and shoe sizes.

A name tag will be placed and hung on an Angel Tree in a Mall, Company, Church, or Organization. Those who want to participate will choose a tag from the tree, purchase the gifts, and return them to the Salvation Army to sort and distribute to the Angels.
