The New York Childcare Subsidy Program helps low-income families with affordable or no-cost childcare services.  Very often, you can not depend on friends or family to take care of your children. This is when you have to make a decision to find a daycare facility that is reliable, affordable, and challenges your children.

EarlyLearn NYC is an option for many working parents. Government help makes it possible for parents to work, learn a trade, or attend school.  Let’s see why.

New York Child Care Assistance Programs

Some women look for ways to work at home because they save money by remaining at home and caring for their kids themselves.  As a parent living in New York, you may need help with daycare when you go to school or work.

The benefits of childcare programs are that your child is well supervised and forms healthy relationships with other kids through play, art, and other activities.  Let’s look at some programs and how to apply and qualify.

Childcare and head start programs are available to parents in New York City.

  • Facilities care for children from the age of six-week up to four years.
  • Home-based programs care for children from six weeks to three years old.
  • The NYC Department of Education Service’s pre-kindergarten program takes up to 10 hours a day for four-year-olds.

New York Child Care Assistance (Early Learn)

Federal and state funding makes childcare assistance possible for needy families throughout the five boroughs in New York City. The law requires those seeking help to earn less than 200% of the US Government Poverty Guidelines.  The benefits of childcare assistance help parents by charging according to their income.

That means you can access affordable and sometimes no-cost childcare if you are eligible. Care is available five days a week and up to ten hours a day. Youngsters receive nutritious meals and snacks, a safe, clean, and caring environment, and experienced certified teachers.

Before you enroll, you will need to determine if you are eligible for subsidized care.  Suppose you are a parent or guardian of a child and receive government assistance like TANF, WIC, or SNAPs or are approved for education, work, or a training program. In that case, you may be eligible for the EarlyLearn NYC Head Start program.  Find out if you qualify with this Eligibility Wizard.

If there has been an incident that concerns you, report it.
