Getting Help From St Vincent de Paul
To determine what type of help your family needs, home visits may take place. ย These visits will be done by staff and coordinated by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s Duval County office. ย Often families are in such distress they overlook other needs in the home that may be addressed.
When other needs are revealed, they will direct the individuals or family to the proper resources to help bring the family back to stability.ย ย Financial assistance and other resources such as food, clothing, and counseling will be included when you qualify.
- Help with housing or utility payments is available.
- Travel vouchers or help with gasoline to get back and forth to work or to receive necessary medical care.
- Vouchers to their thrift store to get clothing, basic furniture needs or food may be available.
- Holiday assistanceย forย Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas dinner.
Please note that all Parishes do not offer these services, so contact the Jacksonville St Vincent de Paul Parish near you to find out what is available. Everyone deserves a second chance, especially those in prison who have paid their debt to society. Suppose your family qualifies financially and meets the requirement for help.ย ย The program Project New Hope helps formerly incarcerated people and their families with help like housing, employment assistance, education, food, furniture, and clothing.
Many other services are available in Jacksonville, Florida.ย ย To receive help, you may need a referral from another organization or government agency.ย ย When receiving help for bills like rent or utilities, all money is given directly to the landlord or utility company. ย No cash is given directly.
Thrift Store – ย Often, disasters can cause families to lose everything. ย St. Vincent Parish, like many other church charities, offers these families help to re-establish their homes.ย ย You can get free furniture, clothing, and household appliances are provided when available.
These items are received from donations, cleaned or repaired, and made available at their thrift stores. The society offers free pickup of large items such as furniture.ย ย They will also deliver furniture free of charge to those in need. Other donated items available: ย beds, cribs, baby supplies, etc.
