Free Financial Help Services is a Georgia-based nonprofit organization that provides essential resources for low-incomeย families andย individuals. People Need Help During Uncertain Times

Many of us know what it is like to pay our bills and have nothing left.ย  Some don’t have enough for bills at all.ย  Life can be stressful, but there is hope in knowing that many communities have outreach organizations and government programs that help support those who need not a handout but a hand-up.ย  I have needed help from time to time. And I know trouble is not here to stay.ย  And there is a light at the end of the tunnel.ย  Don’t give up; you are stronger than you think.

Charities that Help Pay Bills

The Salvation Army and Catholic Charities help with housing, food, counseling, immigrant services, anti-trafficking, and more. The United Way can help you locate financial assistance and other support services in your city.ย  Each charity is funding my donations and government and private donations.

The United Way offers local help in finding programs that help with bills.ย  If you qualify financially and funding is available, you can get help.ย  Remember that you may have to go to multiple organizations to get all the services you seek. Contact them by dialing 2-1-1.

Government Programs

When you qualify financially, you can receive government help like WIC, SNAP benefits, LIHEAP, Financial Aid, etc. These programs allow the very poorest in America. The working poor may also be eligible for many of these programs. Go to USA.gov for a government program that meets your family’s needs if you need it.

Need Help Paying Rent?

If you’re struggling to pay rent, you’re not alone; assistance may be closer than you think. Many local and national programs are designed to relieve those facing financial hardship temporarily.

Organizations such as the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, and United Way offer rent assistance to help prevent evictions. Additionally, federal programs like the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) and Section 8 vouchers provide options for ongoing support.

Local government agencies may also offer rent subsidies or short-term assistance. Be sure to check with community action agencies in your area for personalized guidance on available resources to help you stay in your home.

ย Free Financial Help Programs

To receive free help from the government, charities, and community organizations, your gross income must be at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. If you need assistance with bills, please use this site as a resource to find the help you need.

Expecting a child is a big responsibility, even if you are married.ย  If you are single or a teen, it can be overwhelming. You can live without utilities and a permanent home, but no one can live without food.ย  That is why many community food pantries are available to help endangered families across the United States.ย  These food assistance programs help families feed their families.

4.ย  Financial Help with Free Furniture

Suppose you move into a new home after homelessness or have experienced a disaster.ย  There are free furniture banks, partners with charities, and private donations to help you start again.ย  Find out how to get free beds, linen, dishes, and everything you need to manage a home.

Depending on your state, gas has risen to $10 or more a gallon.ย  Some organizations give out free gas vouchers so people can get to work, make doctor’s appointments, etc.ย  This temporary assistance can get you out of a bind and back on the road.

How to Get Financial Help with Bills

  • Sign up for a free government cell phone from Lifeline
  • Apply for Low Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP)
  • Contact 211 (United Way).ย  For a list of financial programs in your city.
  • Go to the Department of Social Services.ย  Apply for expedited financial assistance.
  • Call charities that help pay bills.ย  Salvation Army, Catholic Charities.

Financial Hardship Programs

We all have times when things get complicated.ย  What do you do when you don’t have a family or your family is also struggling?ย  A GoFundMe page won’t get you the help you need in time.ย  However, some organizations help pay household debt like rent, lights, water, gas, etc.

It will take a little research, phone calls, and footwork!ย  Once you find help and it is approved, they will contact your landlord or utility provider to let them know so they can help you.ย  This alone can stop an eviction or the loss of light, water, or gas services.
