Ohio Assistance Programs.  Ohio assistance programs offer resources to help with eviction, housing, rent, food benefits, medical and childcare, etc.  If you live in Ohio and the surrounding areas, many charities, and community and government organizations offer supplemental help to families and individuals.  If you work full-time, part-time, are unemployed, disabled, you may be eligible for help. 

Ohio Assistance Programs

1.  Cash Assistance for Bills

Cash Assistance programs like the Ohio Works First (OWF) and the Disability Financial Assistance (DFA) help individuals and families pay monthly necessary bills.   OWF benefits are granted temporarily until the recipients find full-time work.

If you are low-income or disabled, the government will issue monthly financial assistance to adults without children.  The benefit also provides activities to assist people with finding long-term employment. There are also rent assistance programs in Ohio.

Qualified residents can receive monthly financial assistance through the Disability Financial Assistance Program. This program provides assistance benefits to low-income and disabled adults who have no minor children. 2.  Ohio Housing Assistance Vouchers

Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Ohio offer subsidies for paying rent as part of section 8. The main clients tend to be very low-income families with children, senior citizens, and the disabled in Ohio.

3.   Homeless Prevention and Eviction Programs

Emergency Solutions Grants and other resources Ohio non-profits provide aid to help avoid the loss of utilities and eviction. This grant helps residents pay rent and other housing costs such as utilities, food, and gas. Homeless residents can receive funds to leave a security deposit for low-income housing or apartments.

4.  Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

The Ohio Food Assistance Program (SNAP) helps the family provide more nutritious meals for their family with a food subsidy.

A household may include any group living together under one roof and preparing and eating meals together. Eligibility is based on gross family income. You may also receive aid if you are low-income elderly, or disabled. SNAP benefits.

5.  Child Care Assistance

ODJFS also offers child care assistance for low-income families needing help with childcare costs. The Child Care and Development Fund helps provide low-income families with assistance to pay for childcare while a parent or primary caregiver goes to work or attends school.

6.  Disability Assistance Programs and Grants

Disabled Ohio residents may receive state aid. Other government benefits can help with health care, transportation, financial aid, and home care. Services for the disabled are extensive.

7.  Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS)

ODJFS is a one-stop source site for many assistance programs for disadvantaged residents of Ohio. Job Services Food and Cash Assistance, Child support, Veterans Workforce services, and grants. Additional programs are offered.

8.  Dental Assistance

The Dental OPTIONS program provides dentists financial assistance by providing patients with reduced fees or free dental care.

9.  Ohio Weatherization Assistance

This Ohio assistance program locates areas of the home that result in higher energy bills and makes repairs to drafty doors, windows, leaking roofs, and faulty water heating systems.

The Home Weatherization Assistance Program is a federal program that helps low-income households make mandatory upgrades to make a residence more energy efficient.

11.  Take Charge Ohio

With the opioid epidemic in the county,  Ohio provides information and support on alternative methods for pain management.  Take Charge Ohio addresses prevention, treatment, recovery, and education.

12.  Help with Mortgage Help and Foreclosures

Find help throughout the Ohio area with Foreclosure prevention. These programs help Ohio residents avoid foreclosure, stay in their homes, and resources to help pay foreclosures. You can also get help from someone to mediate between the homeowner and the lending institution. Get help from:
