To determine what type of help your family needs home visits may take place. These visits will be done by staff and coordinated by the Society of St. Vincent dePaul’s Duval County office. Often families are in such distress they overlook other needs in the home that may be addressed.
When other needs are revealed, the individuals or family will be directed to the proper resourced to help bring the family back to stability. Financial assistance and other resources such as food, clothing, counseling will be included, when you qualify.
- Help with housing or utilities payments is available.
- Travel vouchers or help with gasoline to get back and forth to work or to receive necessary medical care.
- Vouchers to their thrift store to get clothing, basic furniture need or food may be available.
- Holiday assistance for Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas dinner.
Please note that all Parishes do not offer these services, so contact the St. Vincent Parish near you to find out what is available. When you apply be prepared for a home visit. If there is no Parish in your area, or if the help you need is not available, they will direct you to other assistance programs in your area.

If your family qualifies financially and meet the requirement for help. The program, Project New Hope helps ex-offenders and their families with help like housing, employment assistance, education, food, furniture, clothing.
Many other services are available in Jacksonville Florida. Like many assistance programs you can not just walk in to get help, but must be referred by another organization or government agencies. When receiving help for bills like, rent or utilities, all money is given directly to the landlord or utility company. No cash is given directly.

These items are received from donations, cleaned or repaired and made available at their thrift stores. The society offers free pick up of large items such as furniture. They will also deliver furniture free of charge to those in need. Other donated items available: beds, crib, baby supplies, and etc.
